December Newsletter
Room 8-MWF

Dear Parents,

We are really enjoying your children.  Thank you for sharing them with us.  During the month of December, we will be exploring various holiday celebrations, gingerbread, reindeer, and other winter activities.  We will also be very busy elves preparing a special gift for our families.

The children have really settled into our routine.  They are interacting nicely with each other and having a lot of fun. Dramatic play, fine motor activities, sensory play, and tabletop games and puzzles have provided many opportunities for learning and wonderful conversations between the children.  We have been busy learning numbers, colors, shapes, and the sounds and symbols for the zoo phonics animals as well.  We have also been working hard at name recognition, cutting, and writing our names.  If you could continue to work with your children to reinforce these skills at home it will enhance what they are learning at school.  The children are very cooperative and eager to learn.

There will be boxes in the hallway for items for the Livonia Goodfellows Toy Drive donations from December 3rdthrough December 7th. Suggestions for new and unwrapped donations include: toys, hats, mittens, gloves, & scarves.  This presents a wonderful opportunity to show your child the true meaning of the holiday season.

The PTA meeting for December will be held on December 12that 7:00 p.m. in the staff lounge. On Wednesday, December 19th, we will participate in a building wide Sing-A-Long, which is for the children only.  Our classroom winter celebration will be held on Wednesday, December 19th.

We will continue to go outside on a daily basis, weather permitting.  Please be sure that your children have appropriate outerwear to keep them warm.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all of your help and cooperation. We appreciate all of your help in the classroom, dropping off and picking your children up in a timely manner, and your smiles and kind words.

Have a safe and happy holiday season.   Please remember that school resumes on Monday, January 7th, 2019.
