November News-MWF

November Newsletter
Room 8-MWF

Dear Parents,

The month of November will be a busy and short one for our class.  During the month of November our themes will be family, turkeys, and Thanksgiving.   There will be no school Wednesday, November 21stthrough Friday November 23rddue to the Thanksgiving Break.

Our fall field trip will be to the Marquis Theatre to see "Tinkerbell Visits Storyland" on Monday, November 19th.  We will meet in front of the theatre at 9:45 a.m.  The information on this field trip has already been distributed.  We must collect all money by Wednesday, November 7th.  There will be no class at Jackson Early Childhood Center on that day.

The children are doing really well with Zoo Phonics and are eager to learn the sounds and signals of each animal. During October, we worked on letters a, b, c, & d.  We enjoyed meeting the animals, learning their sound and signal, and making the letter animal to take home. We will be working on writing the lower case letter of the week with the children, individually, in class. On Wednesday, we will send home a reinforcement practice sheet that the children can do at home. The children can bring it back to school for a sticker or a stamp.

Ms. Autumn has been visiting our classroom on Wednesday to play the keyboard and sing songs with us.  This is a very enjoyable time for us and we are learning many new songs. We have also been saying the Pledge of Allegiance each class day prior to snack time.

As we enter into the cold and flu season, please remember to keep your child at home if they are not feeling well, have had a fever within 24 hours, or have been vomiting.   You do not need to call the school unless your child has a communicable disease (chicken pox, lice, etc.)  The school phone number is 734-744-2813.

We will continue to go outside (weather permitting) on a daily basis throughout the school year.  Please be sure that your child has appropriate outerwear labeled with their name. Also, the children must wear tennis shoes to participate in gym, climbing room, and outside activities.

Jackson Early Childhood Center has adopted a community service project for the upcoming holiday season. We will partner with Livonia Goodfellows Inc. and begin a food drive from Monday, November 5, 2018-Friday, November 9, 2018. There will be blue collection bins at the end of each of our hallways for nutritious, canned and non-perishable food items. Please avoid items in glass as they often break in transit. Please consider participating in this wonderful community service project. It is a great opportunity to teach character education to our students.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Mrs. Stickler and Mrs. Messer
