May/June Newsletter Monday/Wednesday

Dear Families,                                                                                     May 2018

It is hard to believe that the end of the year is fast approaching!  We are having such a wonderful time with your children – thank you for sharing them!  We have seen a lot of growth in the children since they started school way back in September.  They are very comfortable as they play and explore the classroom environment.  They are forming friendships and learning to share and work together.  They really enjoy stories and songs and finger plays!  Many are learning to identify and try to write their names (and each other’s).  They love to count and work with manipulatives.  They enjoy painting, playing with playdough, digging in the sandbox, playing in the sensory table, and creating their own art.  This is such a delightful age!  I hope you are savoring each moment and enjoying this precious time as they become more and more independent.  As always, if you have any concerns please don’t hesitate to discuss them with me.  I would be happy to meet with you anytime.

In May and June we will work on our Mother’s Day “surprise” (Happy Mother’s Day!), draw self-portraits for our memory books, finish our Zoo Phonics letters, have fun with the wind and enjoy some of our favorite activities!

We will also enjoy a “farm experience”, called Barnyard Express, on Wednesday, May 9th.  This is sponsored by our wonderful PTA (thank you!).   I’m sure all the children will enjoy meeting lots of farmyard friends!  We will also have some farm fun in our classroom.

The last PTA meeting of the year is Thursday, May 10th at 7 pm. They will be holding elections that night! On Friday, May 18th from 5-8 pm, the PTA is sponsoring a Food Truck/Ice Cream Social at Rotary Park.  Look for more information coming about this fun activity!

There is no school on Memorial Day, May 29th.

We will have our “End of the Year Ceremony” on Wednesday, June 6th from
9:15 – 10:00 a.m. in our Gym.  All families are invited to attend this special send off!  This is also the last day of school for our Monday/Wednesday classes!  We will have parent volunteers in the classroom after our celebration in the gym that day so watch for the sign-up sheets in the hall.  Please make sure you have filled out an I-Chat form if you volunteer. We will have a fun day as we say goodbye!

Thank you again for all of your help and support this year.  We couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful group of children and families!  It has been a pleasure and privilege to be your child’s teacher.

Have a safe and happy summer!

Sincerely,

Patty Curmi and Dawn Ehrenfeld
