February Newsletter Friday Discovery for 3's

Dear Families,                                                                           2017

We are off to a good start in 2017!  We sure have enjoyed the month of January, getting reacquainted with one another and meeting new friends!

This month we will have some Valentine’s Day themed activities, including everyone making a special box to hold valentines.  If you haven’t already, please bring a clean, empty, half-gallon milk-type cardboard carton with your child by Friday, February 3rd.

We will have a “Pajama Day” on Friday February 3rd.  On this day we will all wear our PJ’s to school.  We will have a fun day in our classroom and in the climbing room.  Please make sure to send tennis shoes that day!

Our Valentine’s party is on Friday, February 10th.  The children may bring in valentines to the party for their friends at school (there are 16 children in class).  Please sign their name on the card but do not put a name on the envelope (it makes it easier for them to distribute). Please make sure that the valentines do not include a food item (these will have to be returned if sent in).  Put the valentines in a bag with your child’s name on it. If you would like to help in the classroom that day look for the volunteer sign up in the hall and fill out an I-Chat form.  Drop off time is the normal time of 9:15 a.m.  We will be singing some special songs for your entertainment just before dismissal.

Jackson Early Childhood Center is closed February 18-20 as this is the mid-winter break for Livonia Public Schools.  This does not affect our class but I wanted you to be aware that the building will be closed on Monday, February 20th.

Our school-wide virtue this month is “Kindness”.  Check out the conversation questions and the bulletin board in the main hall.

Our wonderful PTA is sponsoring a special event to benefit our students.  On Tuesday, February 21st and Wednesday, February 22nd
‚Äč
(9:00-9:45 a.m.,
10:45-11:30 a.m. and 1:00-1:45 p.m. each day) students will enjoy a presentation by “The Music Lady”.  Since this is not on our class day, please feel free to bring your child to school either day and enjoy the presentation with them.  Thank you PTA!

As always, if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask.  I am always available after class if you need an extended time to discuss any concerns.  You can also send me an email at ptcurmi@gmail.com.

Have a happy month!
